Shadowing a physician, nurse, or allied health professional is one of the most valuable experiences a pre-med or pre-health student can have. Most NJ hospitals and clinics offer formal volunteer and shadowing programs. Start by contacting the volunteer services department at Monmouth Medical Center (732-222-5200), Jersey Shore University Medical Center (732-775-5500), or Ocean Medical Center (732-840-2200). You can also ask your school guidance counselor about partnerships with local healthcare providers.
